In Relief Society we have an enrichment activity book group (they were called Midweek Activities back in the day) that meets once a month. This month we read The Hiding Place, the true story of Corrie ten Boom. The writers tell how Corrie and her family ran an underground resistance against the Nazis during WW2. It takes place in Amsterdam, which is where Anne Frank and her family were in hiding. This was really interesting to me because I teach the play The Diary of Anne Frank in school and my students do a research project on the Holocaust.
However, I did not realize how I would be touched by this book. Up until now, the book that I have re-read the most through the years was Little Women, and my favorite modern book is Wish You Well, but The Hiding Place is right up there on the list now.
I don't really like most "Christian" books that are advertised to build your faith and stuff, but this one is not like that. It is very unpresuming and simply tells the story of a very amazing family. The thing that most impressed me, was that it honestly answers the question of "Why bad things happen to good people." If you are looking for something that is easy to read but very worthwhile, inspiring, and amazing, I highly recommend this book. I loved it.

I loved your post, you write like we're just having a conversation. I really enjoyed that book and I liked your idea of re-reading it. It really is one of those stories that can influence your perspective at any stage of life. What is "Wish you Well" about? I've never read that one.
I have heard good things about that book. I just have never read it.
We still call them mid week activities in our ward! We have a book club every month...I keep trying to go but I havent made it yet!
Yes, thanks plenty...dont delete High School Musical 2....and way to go at Crazy 8s!!!
Book reviews will be a great addition to your blog! :)
I see your second post just fine! :) Sorry you were having troubles with it.:( I'll try and show you how to upload pics this week. :)
I read that book in high school and I remember I really liked it a lot too. You should recommend books more often, I love to see what other people are reading!
I'll have to see if that one is upstairs on the "high school reading list" shelf, must be if Alli read it. I enjoyed "Wish You Well", thanks for that. Happymom has my copy of it now. Keep up the recommendations!
I will have to go to the library and read it again. I remember being so touched the first time I read it. I still remember when I was in high school and read The Diary of Anne Frank--one of my favorites.
I think Book Clubs are such a great idea.
Maybe your blog could be our book club....you could cue us in on your current read.
