I was planning to post a couple of pics of our trip to Boston, but alas, the picture genie has yet to upload them on my little memory card, so I will just update you on a busy week.
Traveling Man just left this morning. He was only here for about 24 hours and just made a quick trip to see his dad in "Man with the Pointed Toes" and his brother in "Beauty and the Beast." I sure miss him.
The band nerd has been at band all week--3 times a day most days--and is one tired, but brown young man. Hair is really long (or should I say bushy?) so he can pin it up in his shako. School starts tomorrow and summer reading projects are due then. Can you guess what he'll be doing today? Also, he has a cute girlfriend who is a senior.
The youngest actor in the family had a relatively easy week with the rest of us gone most of the time. Beauty and the Beast went really well last night, despite the fact that his wolf head fell off in the middle of the attack on Belle. He is also an "eggman" in the opening scene during the "Belle" number. At the first rehearsal where they used the egg basket, the prop lady forgot to tell him that the eggs were real, but not hard boiled. He noticed all this liquid dripping down from the basket. You guessed it.... Anyway, his summer reading is also due tomorrow, and we've only had to buy 2 or 3 copies of Ender's Game throughout the summer. Fortunately he remembered to bring home both his book and his Sunday shoes from the theater, so he should be all right. Did I mention he is also a very handsome spoon in the play?
MetheDad is still a little sore from the car accident. He is not bouncing back like I thought he would. Of course, he never really has time to recuperate. After the accident he didn't take a single day off from work, but at least he worked from home. And the day after the accident he performed both the matinee and the evening performace at the theater, which is about 50 miles away. He couldn't drive, so we had to arrange to meet someone in order to get him there. Then the next day he stayed at church for 5 hours doing his calling in the Spanish branch. And he wonders why the pain is coming back. ... The litle yellow car was totalled, so I guess he'll be car shopping soon.
And I was at school last week planning and preparing for what will be an extremely busy year with yearbook and a new pre-AP curriculum. Good thing I really like my job! Having also attended 2 mid-week activities and one presidency meeting last week, I'm really behind here at the house. Oh, well, life goes on. At least my scrap-bookin girl is cooking dinner today. We will enjoy that. And I'm looking forward to seeing my two L. girls next weekend. Hope they both get to come.
Love to all of you out there in blog land. I love reading about your thoughts and families.

Good Books
In Relief Society we have an enrichment activity book group (they were called Midweek Activities back in the day) that meets once a month. This month we read The Hiding Place, the true story of Corrie ten Boom. The writers tell how Corrie and her family ran an underground resistance against the Nazis during WW2. It takes place in Amsterdam, which is where Anne Frank and her family were in hiding. This was really interesting to me because I teach the play The Diary of Anne Frank in school and my students do a research project on the Holocaust.
However, I did not realize how I would be touched by this book. Up until now, the book that I have re-read the most through the years was Little Women, and my favorite modern book is Wish You Well, but The Hiding Place is right up there on the list now.
I don't really like most "Christian" books that are advertised to build your faith and stuff, but this one is not like that. It is very unpresuming and simply tells the story of a very amazing family. The thing that most impressed me, was that it honestly answers the question of "Why bad things happen to good people." If you are looking for something that is easy to read but very worthwhile, inspiring, and amazing, I highly recommend this book. I loved it.

Beginnings
I kept hearing about blogging, but never participated in it until this summer. Then I began reading my daughters' and son's blogs, and soon discovered my nieces' blogs, and now I'm hooked! What a great way to keep in touch with everyone all at once! I just wish others in my family and circle of friends would blog because they all have great stories to tell and I would love to feel closer to them.
If you're wondering about the title "Spread Too Thin," it isn't meant to be a description of my physical self (because that would be the "spread" part, not the "thin" part), but actually a description of my life, or how I generally feel about my life. Just when I think things are beginning to slow down (no one graduating, getting married, having a baby or moving in the near future), something at school or church seems to pop up...like being called to the Relief Society presidency at church and being asked to advise the yearbook club at school (which takes tons of extra time). Oh, well, maybe it will keep me young and I really do enjoy all the activity, but sometimes I just feel Spread Too Thin.
