At Grapevine High School, just up the road from us, a girl is graduating with the highest GPA in the 103 year school history--5.877. You would expect her to be valedictorian, right? Wrong. She graduated in 3 years, and the district policy says the valedictorian will have the highest average "for four years of high school." So the Valedictorian is a young man with a GPA of 5.64, which he earned in the required 4 years. So they are calling her "valedictorian--three year graduate." Somehow it doesn't have the same ring, does it? Plus, she doesn't get the state scholarship for "highest-ranking graduate" that goes to every accredited high school in the state. To make matters worse, the school counselor is the one who advised her to graduate in 3 years and told her she would be eligible for valedictorian because the spirit of the rule was to prevent students from transferring in from less-rigorous schools and then winning the award. Crazy, huh?
Mark your calendars, the big Bath and Bodyworks sale starts June 2. I love love love Sea Island Cotton. But I sure hope they also have the discontinued fragrance White Tea and Ginger.
Have you seen Prince Caspian? It is sooooo good!

I heard that on the radio! I didn't realize it was in Grapevine- that is absolute craziness! So we're penalizing her because she did the same amount of work in less amount of time? If anything she should be commended!
oh my gosh!!! that is insane!! i bet her parents are throwing a fit...and wanting to sue the counselor!!
last time i was at bath and body works they said white tea and ginger would be bacK!!!
and for everyone's viewing pleasure, and for the fact that i never emailed you the schedule (which i was actually just thinkingt about this morning) here was the sale schedule!:
June 2-4: Signature collections shower gel and creamy body wash $3.50
June 2-8: Wallflowers starter kits and refills $5 (it appears these are air fresheners)
June 5-15:
Anti bacterial collection 5 for $15 or 7 for $20 (YES!!!)
I dont know if there will be other sales or not, but this is what I have on the flier!!
Those wallflowers at Bath & Body Works smell so good! My mother-in-law uses them, and I wish I had some too. I have never smelled the sea cotton one, but I do love the white tea and ginger.
That is dumb about the Valedictorian. Really dumb.
Sometimes the system just doesn't get it right does it. I hope the girl has lots of other scholarship offers, sounds like she's pretty amazing.
I could use some Bath and Bodyworks about now, a nice smelling lotion is something I want to bring back. There actually is a Bath Shop here but the fragrances are different, too many with musk, which has always nauseated me. I'm more the fruity type, but then I guess anyone could have figured that out. :)
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Alright! Another post! I'll have to look into that sale that's coming up...I've never smelled that first scent. That's crazy that that girl doesn't get the scholarship...that seems unfair.
that is dumb. it is better when people graduate early.
i need to go to that sale and get me some of that island cotton stuff that smells delightful.
im going to call you, probably before you get this haha.
that girl was in the news on yahoo or something adn i read about it! crazy!
That is crazy! Poor gal, I'd be ticked! And dang-I'm reading this post on the last day of the sale!
me the dad is back in the blogosphere. It has been since October 2007 I have been out here. I shall make up for lost time. Bravo to the bureaucracy for such a stupid plan for the valedictorian.
