I am loving this summer! It is pretty stressfree and low key--lots of lazy days, or at least afternoons.
Lake Powell was so much fun! We enjoyed it so much. Thank you, Karl and Laurie, for inviting us! I loved riding in the boats and watching people wake board, knee board, etc. I did not realize how beautiful LP is. And to all the cooks, the food was great and I got some ideas for new recipes. I also enjoyed playing all the games and hanging out with family. It was a great get away. Sorry we had to leave early and didn't get to help with cooking the breakfast, but when David told the doctor his pain was a level 7 on a scale of 1 - 10, I was really glad we got him there and got the medicine for him.
I have finished a couple of books recently--thanks to a long car trip from Dallas to LP. :) I finished Time Traveler's Wife on the trip. It is a good, but sad love story. I will warn you, though, that the language is pretty worldly. I also finished Atonement, which a friend of mine from school recommended. It does not have a lot of action, but the author excels at explaining the plot/conflict from different characters' points of view. But again, you have to watch out for the language. Now I am reading Twillight and loving it! I'm only half way through it, but hope to finishe the series in time for the 4th book in a few weeks.
Surprise, surprise! CJ flew in on Thursday and is spending the weekend . He has training on Monday here, so will leave Monday night. I was so excited to see him. I had really been missing him lately, I think because I saw Music Man so many times and I could just picture him as Harold Hill.
Speaking of Music Man, the run is finally over. David hardly knows what to do in the evenings--he enjoyed being in the show very much. The theater owners claim over 8,000 people saw the show--and they did run 7 shows a week for five weeks--always sold out. But 8,000 people? Hard to believe. One of my favorite things about theater (second to seeing my family on stage) is to watch how the performers grow into their parts from opening night until closing night. They add so many little actions and expressions to make their character more realistic. It's really fun to see the growth.
I am really enjoying going to the movies with my grandkids and sometimes even out to lunch with Liz, when she can pull herself away from her studies, and I'm sure looking forward to seeing Carrie next week and then helping Cathy celebrate her birthday by going to see Mamma Mia (a tradition of sorts that we started last year by going to see Hairspray on her birthday). Tricia and I will hopefully continue our brown hot fudge sundae tradition while I am there.
And, finally, believe it or not, I actually bought some Christmas presents this week! I have to do it while I think about it, or I will forget! I know it will be a busy fall--band camp starts Aug 4, then back to school, band competitions in SA, Houston, Indy, and of course a cute new baby will arrive! Not to mention some theater thrown in there (Uncle C will audition for at least 2 I know of, D auditioning for 1).
Anyway, I love summer!

I love summer too!! It's was really great to just sit around and do nothing all day! But I will sure we glad to be done with this dumb summer school class. It's a good thing I don't have a job, this class is a lot of work! And I too am excited to see you on Tuesday.
And I can't believe you already bought christmas presents!! I don't even know when I can start thinking about buying christmas!!
Glad to have you back in the blogging world. That was a fun trip and we too were sorry you had to leave early. What fun to get a surprise visit and to have more visits to look forward to. I just finished a book called "Simon's Night", it was upstairs on a bookshelf and I just randomly picked it up to read, I think one of the girls had had to read it for school. Anyway, I really enjoyed it. I have to decide if I want to get frustrated again and read the 4th vampire book, the jury is still out. Happy summer!
I love summer too, although I would much rather spend it sleeping in and swimming the day away instead of working! But at least I can see most of my kids during the day!
My friend invited me to go see Mama Mia, and I almost went, knowing full well I would love it and would look forward to seeing it again with you. But I just couldnt let myself do it cause I knew it would make you too sad! Anyawys, she loved it. So it is gonna be great!!
That was a great vacation! I hope we can do it again!! Looking forward to seeing you!
Sigh. The only books I'm reading for a LONG time have quizzes at the end of each chapter. :(
CJ and I are still mad that you ruined the surprise by walking in. Stinker.
Thanks for letting him come over last night! We had fun!
That's fun that you got a surprise visit from CJ! Way to go on starting up your Christmas shopping...you're way ahead of the game.
Sounds like fun. I'm putting your SA trip on the calendar. The Cliff will be open for business if anyone wants to stay. Glad you're having such an enjoyable time! LP was terrific!
Alright! Another post! Thanks for the book ideas, I don't know if I feel like a reading a sad romance right now but I'll have to look into the other one! Sounds like the rest of the summer will be great fun too.
