Sounds of Silence

Most moms enjoy the sounds of silence after the kids are all back in school. But today, Saturday, is my time.

Hubby is in Mexico with the bishopric of the Spanish ward. They went to the temple first thing, and now are going to have some fun. But he got the shower fixed before he went, so I guess he's allowed out of the house. When he is in town he is not really in town because he is rehearsing in Cleburne for "Can't Take It With You." He's single cast, so it involves a lot of time.

J is off to band where he is very bored I imagine, since he and his crutches are sitting in the stands observing. Last night he and his friends were at a park, and according to the story I got, he was chasing a duck. ( A duck you say? IIIIIII know!) It was soooo dark that he didn't see the canal that feeds into the pond and unfortunately fell right into the cement embankment (it's not that high) and sprained his knee and jammed two toes. I never get used to those 11:00 pm phone calls that begin, "Mom, can you meet me at the emergency room?"

D is off playing basketball with friends. Currently he is in rehearsal for "Belles on Their Toes." He survived his first week in high school with flying colors, and I am happy to report, even did his homework. Seminary starts next week, so we'll see how it's going then. The count down is on--only three more years of seminary left for me ( and him). But then when will I walk?

I am looking forward to a very good school year. My schedule is such that I teach 3 classes, eat lunch, teach one class, have conference period, and teach two classes. Big classes this year--before school started we had registered 990 students. I am really liking the new administration. They seem very positive and very realistic. Teachers no longer have patio duty nor do we have to supervise the cleaning of the cafeteria tables. Yeah!!!! And I am no longer on the yearbook staff. Yeah!!! Yeah!!!!

Ahh, the door just opened. One of the males is home. I bid fond farewell to The Sounds of Silence.

I am sorry but I had to laugh out loud for a couple of minutes when I read Js paragraph. That boy. When will he be able to march again? I don't much care for the sounds of silence these days cause that means dev is at work. Unless I am taking a nap that is...Glad the school year is starting out so well for you MMC. I guess I will see you sometime within the month I think!

Yeah I'm still mad at him for ruining our mommy daughter date. I was wanting to catch a movie. But oh well. Next time I guess.

I spend much of my life these days with the relative sound of silence...except for the buzzing of auto rickshaws, dogs barking, pigeons cooing, and construction clanging going on somewhere outside, but I remember how refreshing those momentary breathers were from a more hectic time.

Your thespians are keeping busy as usual, sure wish I could watch them perform. Why did hubby go all the way to Mexico?

You have had more than your share of late night emergency room adventures I think, and really, chasing a duck?! Hope he heals quickly so he can get back to marching.

Glad to hear the youngest did well his first week in HS. You can see a slight glimmer at the end of the Seminary tunnel, hooray! And hooray for dedication for traveling that road with the kids for so long.

You work load sounds tremendous to me but it also sounds like you get some nice breaks during the day to help. Those kids and that administration are just darn lucky to have you if you ask me!

Enough of my epistle comment, miss you, thanks for the update!

What is with the boys in our family and the ducks at that park??If you recall, that is the same park where CJ went outside during intermission, picked up a duck, and threw it in the girls dressing room!!

I hope JTBB gets to march soon. Poor kid.

I do enjoy blogstalking you. I'm glad to know D is in Belles - I'll be sure to go on a night he is performing. I'm still looking forward to our night out!

LOL, yes, I would also like to know why he felt the need to chase a duck and if he now feels that the pursuit was a worthwhile one. I hope he feels better soon. I'm glad high school is treating your house well. I'm glad your new administration is treating you well and I wish your actors well in their drama endeavors!

Wow you're teaching 6 classes, is that right? That's crazy. And it's hard to believe that that could have happened to Jacob while chasing a DUCK!! That is too funny...sad...but funny. I feel bad that he's out of band for a while. That's exciting about David and Uncle Chris doing the plays and such. Is it true that Uncle Chris interviewed with the CIA or FBI (I don't know which) someone was telling me that today and I was like...What??? I didn't know that. Anyways...random...hope you enjoyed the rest of your Saturday...and you'll have to let us know how seminary starting affects things!! :)
